The included lag bolts are made for wood, so drive them into wall studs for the firmest hold. If the studs don't line up with the brackets, fasten a 1x4 or 2x4 painted to match your wall across the studs and mount the brackets to that board. For brick, masonry or stucco, use hardware rated for that surface, and call a local contractor if you're unsure about your wall.
