The included lag bolts are made for wood, so fasten the brackets into wall studs for a secure trellis on a wall. If the studs don't line up, mount a 1x4 or 2x4 painted to match your wall across them and attach the brackets to that board. For brick, masonry or stucco, use hardware rated for that surface, and consult a local contractor if you're unsure.
